What are PRP Treatments?

Picture
PRP stands for Platelet Rich Plasma and it is used for Facial Lifting, or giving your face that youthful lift that everyone craves. It acts to improve overall quality, tightness, and texture of the skin rather than filling individual deeper wrinkles. It allows to fill in areas where hyaluronic acid fillers cannot reach or are not safe to use.

Scientific studies dating back 30 years have documented that PRP grows new collagen when injected into the skin. Newer studies show that PRP can soften sun damage and aging skin issues. Platelets are the cells in the blood that help tissue to heal and grow new cells. The PRP, injected into specific areas of the skin, act as a matrix that promotes your own collagen to grow, regenerates tissue, and thus acts as to naturally smooth and tighten the skin. In this way, PRP softens wrinkles and creating smoother skin texture and tone.

How PRP is Created

PRP is a natural product taken from your own blood. A small amount of your blood is drawn from you and placed in a sterile tube. The tube is then spun down in a centrifuge to separate the different components of the blood. Red and white blood cells are divided from the platelets and the plasma. This plasma now contains a higher than normal number of platelets and is called platelet rich plasma, or PRP in short.

While the PRP is being prepared, your skin will be cleansed and prepared for the treatment. The injections take a few moments, and are only mildly uncomfortable. The procedure is quick, approximately 15 minutes and relatively painless. It requires no post procedure care or time off from daily events. Immediately post treatment, you may have mild swelling, redness, or bruising that will fade away within 1-3 days.

In terms of looking more youthful you'll have to be patient. It also makes sense that the younger you are the better the result as your body's natural healing processes are quicker. Gradually your skin will have a subtle improvement that will give you a fresher look than before - without putting anything foreign into the skin.

PRP for Skin Rejuvenation & Anti-Aging

Picture
Platelets are an important component in our blood and are necessary for normal clotting. However, these very same platelets when activated, release several proteins as well as growth factors which release stem cells, increasing collagen formation, skin-tightening and overall rejuvenation. Due to all these benefits, it is also called ‘Facial Stem Cell Regeneration’ therapy.

Common areas where it is used includes; sun-damaged and prematurely aged skin on cheeks and mid-face, jaw line, sagging skin on the neck, back of the hands.

For best results, it is recommended that you undergo up to three treatments, 4-8 weeks apart, with top ups at around 12 months. Improvement in the skin texture is noticeable within the first month while full collagen regeneration takes 3 months. The improvements continue over the next 12 months, as new collagen production continues to improve the overall appearance of the dermis. The effects last for a variable period ranging from 18 months to 2 years.

It's a much more natural approach to anti-ageing - both for the fact you're using your body's own material and for the fact the results develop over time.

The goal of PRP skin rejuvenation therapy is to improve skin tone and texture, tighten skin, soften lines and pores. Results begin to show 3-4 weeks after the treatment session and continue to improve with time. Three treatment sessions are generally recommended, spaced  3 weeks apart, to achieve the best outcome.

The Science of PRP

Our blood is made up of 93% red blood cells, 6% white blood cells, 1% platelets and plasma. Platelets are best known for their function of blood-clotting to stop bleeding. Platelets, however, are much more significant than this. As human platelets are also a critical component in injury healing. They initiate repair within our cells and attract stem cells to the injury. Injecting these growth factors into damaged ligaments, tendons and joints stimulates the natural repair process.

In summary, PRP creates, stimulates, and accelerates the body's natural healing process. This miracle product is now available and can be used to heal your skin, hair, joint, tendons, muscles and old injuries.

Hair Growth and PRP

Picture
If you would like to have thicker, fuller hair, and taking drugs or having surgery isn’t right for you, there is a new option.

PRP can restore your hair by attacking the very cause of hair loss or thinning. Platelets are the tiny cells in your blood that trigger healing when you have an injury or cut yourself. They are packed with Growth Factors, and they can be isolated by a simple procedure that is just like a blood test at your doctor’s office. The Platelets are injected into your scalp, and they stimulate the dormant hair follicles to wake up and grow. Our patients are also seeing impressive results.

PRP has been clinically proven to increase hair growth and slow down hair loss. It can make your hair thicker and fuller. It increases hair growth in men and women.
Remember that the PRP injections or prolotherapy are a process. Sometimes it takes several injection sessions or use of a multi-modal approach to return you to a reasonable level of function, and although the results could be immediate in some cases, it often takes anywhere from four to six weeks to see noticeable improvements.
